The team will be run by club captain Alex Thornhill who was voted to lead the club for the third successive year.

He said: “This an exciting new competition which is anyone can play, it doesn’t matter what standard you are.

“After a fantastic year of cricket last year with the World Cup and the Ashes, the sport is as popular as ever and we want more people to get involved.

“This is a fantastic way to either start the game or return to it.”

The club come off a successful 2019 with the first team gaining promotion to Division 3 East.

He admits that they will come up against strong opposition this season, but his squad are looking forward to the challenge.

He added: “We can’t compete with the finances of other clubs who can sign exceptional overseas players, but our side is improving year-on-year because we’re so young.

“We showed last year by winning 13 of the last 14 games that we deserved to get promoted and I can’t wait for the season.”

Due to the wet weather, the club have organised a pre-season tour to La Manga where they’ll play in a T20 tournament.

Their indoor training sessions start at Seaford Head School on March 1 at 10am and run every Sunday for six weeks.

Thornhill added: “The club are always looking for new members, so either contact the club or come along to our indoor sessions.”
