Golding's 50 helps Bridges to second successive victory

On a pitch which looked dry with potential to brake up, Tom won an important toss and batted first.

Milo Price and Conor Golding opened up for the second time together and once again looked assured and in control.

In a fabulous partnership of 90 they set a foundation for a big score.

Milo was the first to go after the introduction of the off-spinner Smith, he was caught and bowled on the drive but once again looked every part a first team opener with his 34.

Golding fell only one run later after showing he is hitting.

After a lack of application and decision making from the middle order, Tom Blandford and Mike Rose scored 31 together to get into the bonus points, Rose was bowled by Barter after a much-needed 15, Tom managed to get the score up to 172 before he was caught at cover and TBCC were bowled out.

It was certainly a challenging total on a wearing pitch.

Bridges once again looked to their bowlers to get them the win and they never looked like letting the team down.

A brilliant opening spell from Matt Blandford and Vic Davies set the tone for Bridges, though the fielders didn’t initially back them up.

Cowan dropped a one handed chance off Matt in the first over and another above his head a few overs later, another chance off the luckless Matt was dropped in the slips and a hint of frustration had set in.

Rose came into the attack with high expectations on his shoulders due to the pitch being spin-friendly, and he got Pullen LBW with the ‘slider’ in his first over. two in two overs and Bridges were on top with the run rate required rising.

Eastbourne’s experienced pair of Tomsett and Trubshaw came together in what was the crucial partnership.

Trubshaw played his usual way swinging to leg every over and with a bit of luck and bravery hit boundaries in an attempt to change the momentum. Golding came on without much bowling behind him this season but as ever looked like he could take a wicket. The partnership looked to be taking the game away from Bridges but this changed once they got to 90.

Luke Bellars had replaced Rose, and the leg spinner bowled his best spell for the club to date.

Bowling with control whilst getting considerable turn as well he built pressure. Golding was the one to get the breakthrough, the golden arm found one to pop and Tomsett was caught at cover, a huge wicket.

Trubshaw continued to whack it and was dangerous, but he fell to the deserving Bellars to a frantic sweep shot. Now 112-5 the game was well and truly in the balance. Back came Rose and Davies back into the attack with the team now hunting victory, Rose got his second as Jones was LBW. Davies then bowled a superb slower ball which Twine skied to a waiting Tom Blandford.

Rose took the winning wickets, having Smith LBW and Barnett bowled.
