Hailsham cricketers fall short at Glynde
After winning the toss, skipper Andrew Anthony inserted the hosts.
Glynde got off to the better start, with openers Thornhill and Murray batting conservatively until James Bellett (3-32) was introduced, removing Thornhill (27), Blunt (0) and Murray, caught by the Hailsham skipper.

Hide AdHailsham continued to plug away, but dogged defending and some expansive batting saw Glynde attempt to wrestle back momentum.
Tungate (4) pulled an Alex Renals delivery straight to Ollie McDonald at mid-wicket and the introduction of South African debutant Simon Dunning confirmed Hailsham’s positivity, bowling fantastic areas and taking a superb 4-25 from eight overs. Andrew Anthony (2-29) mopped up and Glynde were out for 182.
For Hailsham openers Wilkinson and Peacock were both removed without troubling the scorers, and after Bellett went for 1, Hailsham were 8-3.
Mark Renals (21) and Ollie McDonald (22) set about a recovery and put on 50.

Hide AdThe dismissal of McDonald brought Dunning (48) to the crease and his fantastic power hitting, alongside a couple of exquisite strokes through the covers, enabled him and skipper Anthony (25*) to take Hailsham towards an unlikely victory.
But it wasn’t to be as Hailsham were finally dismissed for 161, falling just 21 runs short of their required target.

Hailsham 3rd XI v Glynde 2nd XI:
Tthe season started with a bang as Hailsham won the toss and elected to field, opening the bowling with Bobby Williams (1/41 off 8) and Bradley Aldridge (0/18 off 5). Nobody could shift the number two batsman, and so on came the deadly combo of Warren Downs (2/25 off 8), and Kaleigh Pavitt (3/16 off 3). They bowled terrific spells. Special mention to Mohsin for bowling incredible line and length with good variation. His figures of (0/36 off 8) proved to be vital in the run chase later on.
Hailsham had 202 runs to chase.
After a short lunch, Hailsham took to the middle in what was going to be an incredible run chase towards the end. Openers Nigel Anthony (8) and Tim Mullins (80) were looking in fine touch. Unfortunately, Anthony’s visit was cut short but Mullins soared onwards and upwards climbing to a total of 80 runs for himself. Nobody else shone until young Bradley Aldridge (41*) and Ethan Dawber (22*). They put on a 60-run partnership, winning the game off the last ball.
