Hamed takes seven wickets as Crawley Eagles seconds win vital clash

The focus switched to their second team, who gained a sizeable victory in the top of the table clash.

Bishrul Hamed claimed 7-17 to help Crawley Eagles seconds increase their lead at the top of the table when they beat second placed West Chiltington & Thakeham second XI by 70 runs at Cherry Lane.

The visitors won the toss and elected to field on a damp pitch, James Challiner 4-24 had the hosts in trouble but a valuable 46 from veteran Musawar Hussain helped the total to 122 all out.

Malcolm Fitzgerald chipped in with 3-22.

The visitors’ reply never got going as Bishrul Hamed left arm swing got to work with the help from the other end from Fallah Uddin 2-5 off his six overs, the batters found it very hard to get away as they were all out of 52 in 24 overs.

Hamed’s 7-17 was his best bowling figures for the team.

Captain Nasir Khan said: “This was a big win for the team against a good side who are second in the table, we will try to keep this good form up as we move close to the second half of the season.

“We are well placed but we also know there is a long way to go.”
