Hants cricket stars give top tips to Chichester youngsters

Hampshire CCC brought their cricketing skills to Chichester as kids enjoyed top-level tips on improving their game.

Chichester Priory Park were one of six clubs to get a visit from the county side’s director of cricket and a player.

A variety of fun games to test what the young players had learned were included.

All six venues provided outstanding facilities over the course of the week, though unsettled weather making it challenging at times.

Hampshire Cricket’s new mascot Roary the Lion popped in to check on their progress.

Hampshire director of cricket Giles White and all-rounder Liam Dawson braved the rain to make regular appearances throughout to share their expertise with the youngsters.

Dawson said: “Their enthusiasm and dedication towards learning and improving their game has been outstanding and it’s been great to see. You could honestly see a marked improvement from the start of the course to when they finished and from a coaching point of view, that’s very rewarding to see.

“Not only has their attitude been spot on, but every group have shown that they are very talented cricketers as well. It’s great to see so many kids enjoying their cricket, which is really it’s all about at their age and I look forward to seeing how they’ve progressed at the summer courses.”
