Henfield skipper Moore left frustrated by ‘negative’ Arundel

Henfield made 194-9 from their full 53 overs, but the rain arrived during Arundel’s reply. With overs reduced it left the hosts needing 169 from 24 overs with nine wickets in hand - a target they never looked interested in chasing according to Moore. He said: “It effectively left a 20/20, they could have come out an given it a go but instead blocked it out from the first ball. It was a complete waste of time, if they’d gone for it both sides could have finished with extra points. I just don’t understand tactics like that and if they play like that for the rest of the season, frankly they could well be relegated.

Moore was delighted with his side’s batting display, having lost the toss and been stuck in in bowler friendly conditions. Adam Scott top scored with 59 and had cousin Craig Scott not been given out off an apparent no ball on 18 they would most likely passed 200.

Arundel were 20-1 before the drizzle turned to heavy showers, and after losing 17 overs to the rain the hosts returned to finish on 124-4 from their reduced 30 overs. Joe Bain was 55 not out while for Henfield George Stewart took 3-22.
