They climbed a place to fourth in the table with a comfortable four-wicket triumph at home to Keymer & Hassocks on Saturday.

Frontrunners Mayfield and Slinfold currently occupy the top two promotion spots, but Henfield trailed third-place Rye by a point and the top sides by 52.

Scott thinks his side can break into that top two, he said: “Promotion is a definite target for us, we know Slinfold and Mayfield will be the teams at the top with us but I back us to be in the mix.”

Having won the toss and chosen to bat on Saturday, Keymer & Hassocks were bowled out for 115 in just 29 overs.

Tom Fairfax topscored with 45, Jamie Purtell made 24 while Alex Brakell (12) and John Price (13) were the only others to make double figures.

With the ball, Brighton Mugochi cleared up the tail with 3-13 as Jack Parsons (2-11) and Craig Scott (2-35) took earlier wickets.

In reply, Adam Scott (10) and Scott Pederson (22) put on an opening stand of 39, while Tom Paine (14), Mugochi (12), Jack Parsons (26) and Craig Scott (13) all contributed as Henfield scored the required 116-6 in the 22nd over.

Adam Scott added: “It was another good win for us. We bowled and fielded exceptionally to bowl out Keymer for 115. Picking up wickets at regular occasions before taking the last three without the addition of any runs after drinks.

“The chase went to plan. It can be tricky chasing down a low total like that so we knew we had to go out playing very positively to break the back of the reply without getting ourselves bogged down.

“I was very please with how everyone responded.”

Henfield travel to Southwater on Saturday.
