Howzat for a lot of pizzas at the cricket club

For Lewes Priory Cricket Club, it was a year of many challenges – and more pizzas.

Although restricted to half a season and under strict Covid constraints Lewes Priory CC managed 130 games of junior and senior cricket with three Saturday teams, two Sunday and a further two midweek.

The club even managed to recruit new players and have a membership now of around 90 seniors and 100 juniors.

The juniors in their ten age squads, including three girls’ teams, benefited enormously from more than 300 one-to-one sessions and there were well attended senior nets on Tuesdays and Saturday mornings.

Two new artificial pitches were installed for juniors and seniors and a club record was probably set for the number of pizzas ordered for the very friendly after-match sessions at the ground every weekend.

The club are very grateful to its ‘Covid crew’ who worked tirelessly to make cricket possible in this, one of the most challenging years the club, like so many others, has ever known.
