Iden clear Plumpton hurdle

Iden won by four wickets away to Plumpton & East Chiltington in the East Sussex Cricket League on Saturday.

After restricting their hosts to 181-8 batting first with Robin Mayes picking up three wickets and Chris Curd two, Iden knocked off the runs largely thanks to an opening stand of 130 between Phil Shanks (53) and Michael White (69).

Division Two leaders Rye failed to win for the first time all season as they were held to a draw at home to Crowborough. The visitors totalled 166-8 batting first with Martin Blincow taking four wickets and Gary Willis three before Sandun Dias top-scored with 42 as Rye reached 140-8 in reply.

Battle are third in the same division on the back of a four-wicket success at home to St Peters. Mike Gedye took 7-46 in a St Peters total of 229 and Elliot Scrivener spearheaded the run chase with 68.

Robertsbridge were also victorious in Division Two away to Fletching. Robertsbridge totalled 195 batting first and proceeded to dismiss their opponents for 141 with Allan Hughes bagging four wickets.

In Division Four, Little Common Ramblers won by 99 runs at home to Rotherfield and Pett prevailed by 50 runs at home to Newick seconds. Full reports on each of these games will appear in Friday’s Observers.
