Three Bridges won the toss and decided to bat first on another excellent wicket.

Against some fine opening bowling by Lindfield’s Shane Wilson-Yelverton 4 for 36 and Matthew Wilson-Yelverton 2 for 49 Three Bridges were soon struggling at 3 for 11. A stand of 89 between Conor Golding (49)and Oliver Blandford (77)steadied the innings before three more wickets put Lindfield in with a chance of wrapping up the innings below 200. However, a match changing innings by Dominic Keats (32)helped Three Bridges reached a target of 235 that was more than they would have expected after their earlier loss of wickets.

Lindfield Innings started poorly with the early loss of opener Scott Clark and were further hindered by some rash shot selection from the middle order which left Lindfield reeling at 48 for 5. The innings never recovered despite the best efforts of Tem Hodson (26) and Alex Borley (27) on his League debut and were all out for 95.

After last weeks encouraging performance against Eastbourne it was a disappointing performance by Lindfield and will be hoping for a more solid batting performance this week at Bognor Regis.

Lindfield 2nd XI again performed with much credit but lost a highly entertaining game away to Three Bridges 2nd XI by 4 runs. The game swung back and forwards but on reflection it was a game Lindfield will be disappointed not to have won.

Batting first Three Bridges were indebted to Ian Church (63)for anchoring the innings as they struggled against the bowling of Scott Pedley 3 for 32 in 14 overs, Steve Pearce 3 for 71 in 21 overs and Tom Hinley 2 for 9 in 5 overs as they could only reach 162 for 9 in their 53 overs

Lindfield’s innings stated well with solid opening partnership of 49 by Kevin Chamberlain (30)and Andrew Conor (20) A middle order collapse looked to have swung the game towards Three Bridges as Lindfield collapsed to 60 for 5. However, amazing innings by Adam Wright of 55 including 32 in one over looked to have turned the game in Lindfield’s favour at 129 for 5 and 156 for 8. Unfortunately Three Bridges had other ideas as the last two wickets fell in quick succession despite the best efforts by Nathan Pugh (21nt) An agonising defeat but wonderful game of cricket.

This week the Lindfield 2s entertain East Grinstead 2s

Lindfield 3rd XI were well beaten at Chailey last Saturday. On winning the toss Chailey asked Lindfield to bat. Lindfield started well with openers Charlie Weir (17) and Mike Newcombe (28)looking solid. However, the rest of the innings struggled against fine bowling of Senthil Kumar 5 for 20 and despite another good batting performance by William Light (40)the innings closed at 135 all out. Chailey soon set about their task with vigour and easily passed the target for the loss of only 2 wickets. Despite the heavy defeat there were some encouraging performances from the young team. This week the team face league leaders Ardingly.

After last weeks disappointing performance Lindfield 4th XI performed with much credit against title favourites Brunswick Village. On winning the toss Lindfield batted first and scored a creditable 147 for 7 from their 47 overs with Graham Page (57) holding the innings together. He was well supported by Matthew Steadman (18nt) Lloyd Fielder (17) and Phil Tolhurst (17)

Unfortunately Lindfield’s bowling had no answer to the batting from Brunswick Village as Waqas Hassan Syed 91nt) and Jamie Funnell (45nt)punished anything loose and won by 9 wickets. This week Lindfield 4s are away to StJames Montefiore 3s.
