The visitors were put into bat on a wet wicket after losing the toss and Littlehampton captain Dan Rive felt a score between 150 and 180 would be a good return.

Littlehampton got inbetween Rive’s target as they were all out for 156 in 47.2 overs as Michael Askew struck 54 and Rive hit 24.

Both were out sweeping as left-arm spinner Chris Richens took 5-46 from 15 overs and Jack Williams claimed 4-40 off 10.2 overs.

Rive felt Felbridge did not really attempt to chase down the target in their reply as they finished their 46 overs on 118-9.

Jordan Farrell got Felbridge nine down when he dismissed Matt Taylor off the first ball of the final over but Richens saw out the remainder of the over to ensure the draw.

Tim Peters’ 15 overs cost just 21 runs as he took four wickets and there were also two wickets for Farrell.

Jamie Parrett top-scored with 37 for the hosts.

Rive said: “They won the toss and put us into bat but didn’t really attempt to do anything in their innings.

“The wicket was very wet to start with and East Grinstead’s game was rained off just 10 or 15 minutes down the road.

“We’d have been happy with anywhere between 150 and 180 and we probably could have got up to 180 but Michael, who batted very well, and I got out at the wrong time.

“Their batsmen then didn’t really go for it as the wicket started misbehaving as it got drier and Tim’s 15 overs cost only 21 runs as they didn’t try to hit him.”

Littlehampton have their free week in the league on Saturday but they travel to Eastergate in Twenty20 Cup Group A action on Sunday.
