Roffey won the toss and asked Lindfield to bat on a good wicket but soon found themselves in all sorts of trouble at 46 for 8 against the bowling of Rohit Jagota 4 for 11. Only 3 batsmen scored double figures, Geoffrey Lawrence 11, Phil Weir 11nt and Declan Martel 15 as Lindfield managed a disappointing 75 all out in 19.3 overs.

Roffey had no trouble in getting the runs in 11.3 overs with overseas player Tem Hodson taking the only wicket.

With the new league season starting this week Lindfield will be hoping for a much improved performance at Eastbourne.

The second XI also entertained Roffey 2s in the earlier game and performed with much credit as Lindfield 2s scored 135 all out in their 20 overs. Consistent batting from the ever-green Kevin Chamberlain 25 and hard hitting from Rob Minter 21 and Mike Hewitt 16 ensured a competitive total to defend. Unfortunately for Lindfield, Chris Webb was in great form as he dominated the Roffey innings with a fluent 90 not out as Roffey won by 8 wickets in 16.5 overs.

Newly promoted Lindfield 2s play Eastbourne 2s on the Common this week as their experience playing the Counties 2ndXI top teams for the first time.
