Park look forward to division two

The Telham club will be playing in Sussex Cricket League Division Two next summer after clinching the Division Three (East) title last weekend.

Park captain Lindfield said: “It’s a step up, but as long as our youngsters come through and get stronger over the winter, I think we will hold our own.

“We’re not going to go down the lines of buying professional players; we always like to promote through the club. We’re always on the look for new players, but it’s got to be people that fit into the club.”

Park can look forward to derbies against Bexhill and Eastbourne, both of whom have been relegated from the Premier League, as well as renewing rivalries with old East Sussex League adversaries Glynde & Beddingham.

Their other opponents will be St James’s Montefiore, Pulborough, Findon, Goring-by-Sea, Ifield and Division Three (West) champions Middleton. Dale Bryant wants to come back next year, but it depends on the job situation.

Long-time leaders Park sealed top spot in just their second season as a Sussex League club on the back of a four-wicket victory away to Crawley which put them seven points clear of runners-up Ansty.

In fact, the league triumph made it a treble for Park in 2012 because they also won the EACA Midweek Indoor League during the spring and the Gordon Busbridge Shield, a midweek evening Twenty20 competition, in July.
