The centre of excellence was officially opened by England and Sussex stars Mike Yardy and Ed Giddins, who then provided expert coaching to 30 of Park’s junior players.

The opening of the centre was the result of the continuing successful partnership between the club and its main sponsor Claremont School.

The centre will enable Park’s team of coaches to deliver coaching of the highest quality to not only the club’s own juniors, but also to young cricketers from other clubs and schools in the community.

The centre’s state of the art facilities include four lanes of cricket nets and the very latest advanced sports flooring. To enhance player performance and learning, the club’s coaches will be utilising the latest video analysis software in two classrooms which have been equipped with laptops and video cameras.

In addition, a gym with a comprehensive selection of cardiovascular and resistance machines will allow the club’s team of qualified personal trainers to advise and instruct junior cricketers on the benefits of fitness and wellbeing, as well as providing expert nutritional advice to children and parents alike.

The four-week hardball programme begins at Bodiam on Wednesday from 7-8.30pm, and is aimed at boys and girls aged 10-15. A four-week softball training programme for under-11s will take place at Claremont Prep School, Hastings, beginning on Friday November 29 from 6-7pm.
