Picture special - West Wittering Cricket Club rack up 14,539 runs - time to declare?

West Wittering Cricket Club used the May half-term break to set out the #RunForWWCC challenge, which aimed to raise money for the club and for local homeless support charity Stonepillow.

With a target of 10,000 runs to be completed in seven days, club members and friends were challenged to run up to 30 minutes a day, between the wickets, to score as many runs as possible. It was a slow start but the challenge gathered momentum and by the end of day seven, around 50 different participants had achieved a mammoth 14,539 runs. So far, the club have raised more than £1,600 to cover essential costs to keep the club running through this uncertain time, while 20 per cent of the final total raised will be donated to Stonepillow.
