Carla Rudd, a former pupil at Helenswood Academy and Bede’s, was part of the England Women’s Academy squad which played two matches against India.

The first was an unlimited overs two-day game at Loughborough in which India batted first for 106 overs, setting a score just shy of 300 for England to chase.

Rudd kept wicket for the 96 overs on day one and the remaining 10 the following morning, taking one catch and a stumping to dismiss the last batsman. The game ended in a draw as the final day’s play was halted due to rain.

The two countries then contested a 50-over one day game in Harrogate, Yorkshire, and this time England secured the win they were looking for.

Rudd has a couple more international matches to look forward to this weekend because she has been selected to face South Africa in T20 fixtures in Southend today (Friday) and tomorrow, and is looking forward to playing in the new orange England T20 kit.

The St Leonards-based player also represented the England Women’s Academy sides during the tours of Sri Lanka and South Africa last winter, with England winning each series.

Since then Rudd has had a busy summer season. In addition to her England appearances, she has represented the Berkshire women’s team which finished third in Championship League and the MCC in various fixtures throughout the country.

Rudd, 20, is a wicketkeeper/batsman who also represents Cardiff University MCC.
