Rain decimates cricket programme

THE rain was the real winner as the cricket league season got off to a soggy start on Saturday.

Hastings Priory’s Premier Division match at home to Roffey fell by the wayside, along with the Division Two encounter between Sidley and Three Bridges and the Division Three (East) contest involving Ansty and Crowhurst Park.

Bexhill were one of the few teams to see some action away to Brighton & Hove. The Premier Division match was played under Twenty20 rules and set a target of 132 to win, the visitors got home by six wickets which meant they picked up 16 points.

It was a similar story in the East Sussex Cricket League with only a handful of fixtures across the 13 divisions beating the wet weather.
