St Andrews, batting first, put up 186 runs before a rain-affected EP innings, which gave the home side an advantage.

Owing to the fact more than 20 overs were bowled in the second innings, the winning draw target was calculated at 123, using the first innings’ run-rate, which EP failed to achieve as they closed on 102-4 from 31 overs.

Stand-in EP skipper Dan Williams, deputising for the injured Gary Weedon, said: “It was another tight match which could’ve easily gone either way. It was a shame we couldn’t counter on our quick start, but we battled through well until the rain came in.

“Being a young squad, I was really pleased with the attitude and the drive of them all to keep going, even when things weren’t going our way.”
