Aldwick on tour

When you have six games in six days ahead of you, it is important you get off to a good start and Aldwick certainly did that on their Isle of Wight tour as theycruised to an easy victory at Arreton with great batting and bowling performances.

As befits tour tradition, the tourists were asked to bat first and posted a hefty 258. Louis Paul started proceedings by racing to 46 in just 23 balls and Keelan Belcher (100*) took over as he decimated the islanders’ bowlers with an exciting century which will cost him a round of drinks. Steve Harris (3-40) did his best but the tourists were in an ebullient mood.

Aldwick’s good day out continued when the home side went out to bat. Liam Hicks took three for seven and two wickets apiece from Will Pegg, Ben Bambridge and Ollie Smith sealed the deal as Arreton were bowled out for 86. Only Sam Sanyal (26) and Chris Yates (13) survived the rout – nobody else made double figures.

Aldwick knew the rest of the tour would not be as easy as the week went on.

This week the weary tourists will be back in league action against Broadbridge Heath.
