Sidley suffer heavy defeat at Findon

SIDLEY are in danger of being cast adrift at the foot of the Sussex Cricket Division Two table after slumping to an eight wicket defeat away to Findon.

The result means they are now 38 points behind second-from-bottom Pulborough at the mid-way point in the campaign.

Sidley were shot out for 135 after being put into bat. It could have been even worse because at one stage they were 65-6 before a seventh wicket partnership of 58 between Scott Woodroffe (37) and Paul Nice (35) gave them something to defend.

The Findon opening duo of Graham Manser (5-25) and James Iago (4-39) caused the problems with the ball.

Sidley did snap up an early wicket in the field before Jack Metters (50) and Barry Meaney (49 not out) saw Findon to 139-2. The wicket-takers were Peter King (1-36) and Woodroffe (1-29).
