Overton's side beat Ifield in the Group A5-A8 play-off on Saturday and now face East Sussex side Crowhurst Park - who beat Keymer and Hassocks - at Newick this week.

The skipper said: "The squad are extremely excited for next week. it’s not every day you get to play in a cup final so we are going to enjoy the day and give it our best shot.

"Anything can happen on the day but the confidence and belief is there and it feels like we are peaking at the right time, let’s hope that continues into next week. I am very proud of what we have achieved this season and it really would be the icing on the cake."

And the skipper was delighted with his team's performance against Ifield. Ifield won the toss and elected to bat but collapsed to 109 all out with Imran Shah (3-35), Tom Endacott (2-23), Dan Smith (2-7) and James Parker (1-9 from six overs) dominating with the ball.

Slinfold did lose five wickets in the run chase but Overton (38) and Smith (42) had done enough to guide Slinfold to the final.

Overton said: "Saturday was our best performance of the season, and it’s great that we managed to produce that in the knock out stages.

"We started well with the ball and in the field and Ifield never managed to get any significant partnerships together, but that was down to the pressure we built throughout the innings. James Parker’s opening spell set the tone for the whole day and Imran shah and Dan Smith supported superbly."

"The chase was comfortable after losing a wicket in the first over, we managed to put on 82 for the second wicket, which was more than enough to see us home despite losing a cluster of wickets towards the end."
