Sussex batsmen Nash eyes a first Arundel century

Sussex take on Kent Spitfires in the CB40 on Monday, before meeting Durham in the County Championship from Wednesday and then entertain Northamptonshire Steelbacks in the CB40 on July 22.

Nash has an added incentive to do well at Arundel as he has struck hundreds at Hove and Horsham – the two other grounds Sussex play home games at – but never before at Arundel.

He has hit 13 centuries so far in his career, 11 first-class and two List A, and he said: “It’s a really great ground and Horsham and Arundel are two of the best festival grounds around.

“They always look after us very well at Arundel, the support is always excellent and it’s a pleasure to play there.

“I’ve always enjoyed playing at Arundel, there’s always a good buzz and, historically, we’ve done well there.

“I’ve never made a big score there, though. I’ve made a few 60s and 40s but, hopefully, the weather will hold up and I can complete the full set and get a hundred at Arundel, as I’ve already scored hundreds at Hove and Horsham.”

The game at Arundel is in the middle of a busy period for Sussex as they start a four-day match at Warwickshire today (Thursday). That finishes on Sunday, so Sussex will travel back from Birmingham Sunday evening, before playing Kent at Arundel on Monday.

Nash said: “It’s a hectic period as we’ll be playing for 20 days out of 25. But we’re doing well in all forms of the game and want to keep the momentum going.

“We’re fifth in the Championship, 29 points off the lead, we’re in the quarter-finals of the t20 and are unbeaten in the CB40.

“I don’t think you can ask for much more than that as we’re still in the hunt for all three trophies.”

The CB40 games both start at 1.45pm, with the Championship match starting at 11am each day.
