Two hubs will be hosting the Sussex Cricket Foundation Cup; Henfield Cricket Club on Sunday 29 May and at West Chiltington & Thakeham Cricket Club on Sunday 19 June. The money raised at the two events will form part of the Sussex Cricket Foundation Appeal 2016 and will be directed towards disability cricket within Sussex.

The SCF is running their appeal year during 2016 to raise funds for recreational cricket throughout the county, and for programmes that use sport as a vehicle to achieve social good.

There are a number of events being planned during the year, with the emphasis on cricket within the community and therefore all clubs involved will be encouraged to play with the spirit of this in mind.

Teams finishing first and second at each venue will be invited to play in the ‘Finals Day’ at The 1st Central County Ground on Sunday 4th September, when each team will be managed by a player from Sussex CCC. The winning team will be presented with the Sussex Cricket Foundation Cup.

The teams taking part at Henfield are: Henfield CC, Portslade CC, St Peters CC, Burgess Hill CC, Glynde & Beddingham CC and Billingshurst CC, whilst at West Chiltington, the SCF will welcome: West Chiltington & Thakeham CC, Wisborough Green CC, Barns Green CC, Middleton CC, Arundel CC and Steyning CC.

Players from Sussex Cricket’s professional squad are also set to be on hand at both venues to provide coaching for any junior players in attendance who wish to take part.

All spectators are welcome on both dates to watch the action; there will be a BBQ and a raffle taking place at each venue, with some excellent prizes on offer, including Matt Prior’s wicket-keeping gloves, a signed shirt from Sussex batsman Ed Joyce, and tickets to watch Sussex at The 1st Central County Ground.

Play is due to commence at 10am on both dates, with the final for each venue scheduled for 6pm.
