East Grinstead are fourth, they have won four of their six games and have enjoyed a positive result from all six of their matches.

Hastings were surprised to be put in by Eastbourne at the Saffrons but the ‘gamble’ seems to have paid off for the home side as Sussex spinner Ollie Rayner took 7 for 49 to send Hastings tumbling to 179 all out.

Harry Finch was top scorer with 30 but an eighth wicket stand of 48 between Josh Poysden (25) and Joynal Ahmed (22) was to prove vital in the final countdown.

Eastbourne started disastrously with Mark Tomsett, Ben Brown, Gus Stewart and Ollie Rayner all out cheaply and they never recovered.

Callum Jackson was top scorer with 37 not out having come in at number five but the 16 year-old Sussex Protégé ran out of partners as wickets tumbled to 140 all out as Kirk Wernars took 3 for 41 and Josh Poysden 3 for 15.

Sussex player Will Beer made 128 to help his Horsham side to a five wicket win at home to Roffey.

The visitors reached 236 for 5 declared with 67 from Josh Fleming and 50 not out from brother George Fleming, Sam Cushing and Paul Williams each took two wickets for Horsham.

But Beer’s innings and 47 from Devon Endersby saw Horsham home at 237 for 5 from 49 overs, Andy McGorian grabbed 3 for 72 for the visitors,

Fast bowler Carl Simon returned his best figures yet in seven seasons with Preston Nomads

to send Brighton and Hove tumbling to 166 all out, The Antiguan took 8 for 55.

Brighton were 51 for 6 at one stage but 50 from Patrick Spencer and 47 from Chris Hulston added some respectability to their score.

It could have been better as Nomads subsided to 81 for 5 before Aaron Phillips with 59 not out steered them home at 168 for 5 from 56 overs, Jordan Rollings took 3 for 72.

East Grinstead found it very easy at home to Pulborough who they beat by 142 runs.Aussie Matt Sugg led the way with 75 not out to help Grinstead to 202 for 8 declared as Rohit Jagota took 3 for 66 and Amit Suman 3 for 68.

But Pulborough were destroyed by spin at Craig Fowle took 5 for 8 and Harry Dye 3 for 14 as they crashed to 60 all out to remain bottom of the table.

Two other strugglers met at Chichester where Three Bridges won by 97 runs after posting 303 for 5 declared of which Hisham-Ul-Haq hit 152 and Jibran Khan 41, for Chichester Richard Browning took 3 for 36.

The home side were bowled out for 206 despite stout resistance from Richard Logan who made top score of 76, for Bridges skipper Danny Alderman took 4 for 53.

Worthing top Division Two ahead of Cuckfield, St,James’s and Haywards Heath all of whom have won four of their six games to date but none is unbeaten.

On Saturday Worthing made short work of chasing down a Cuckfield total of 163 all out of which Jack Denyer made 32m Kriatian Piolet 30 and Harry Clark 34.

For Worthing off-spinner Ben Challen took 5 for 46 and Nick Gunning took 4 for 37.

Challen hit form with the bat as he made 76 not out in a winning total of 164 for 2, Andy Reid supported well with 39.

St.James’s enjoyed a massive nine wicket win at Lewes Priory who they put in and held to 221 for 7 declared.

In that score Michael Murray made 60 not out, Imran Khan hit 55 and Rashid Khan made 34 as paceman John Glover took 3 for 55.

But Raza Ali cracked 137 not out and James Howard made 49 not out to take the visitors to victory at 225 for 1 from 43.3 overs.

Stirlands were put in at Haywards Heath and made 208 for 5 declared led by 105 from Ian Gooding and benefitting from a plethora of dropped catches.

For the home side 18 year-old Jethro Mezies took 2 for 53 and Matt Junk 2 for 66.

There was real tension as Haywards Heath, at 211 for 9, won off the very last ball.

Teenagers Menzies (61) and Ollie Graham (45) were the architects of the win, Menzies taking 12 from the final over to secure the win !

There was a low scoring game at Glynde where visitors Goring were sent packing to 105 all out as Dominic Harris took 5 for 22.

In reply the home side, too, struggled before winning at 106 for 8 of which Ollie Bailey with 23 was top scorer and Matt Keen took 3 for 16.

Bexhill won a close game at Ifield by two wickets after the home side had made 193 for 8 declared with Greg Barton hitting 79.

Bexhill won at 195 for 8 with 81 from Tim Hambridge as Russell Jacob took 4 for 81.

With Division 3 East leaders Lindfield (along with Crowhurst Park) having the week off Sidley moved to the top of Division 3 East after a first away victory at Keymer & Hassocks.

Paul Harrison top scored with 46 as Sidley were restricted to 187 all out. Mike Poole with 5-65 and Andy Westgate 3-75 did most of the damage with the ball.

Keymer’s reply followed a familiar pattern this season as only John Poole defied the visitors for long with 48 as Paul Swanell scythed through them with 7-57. Keymer now sit at the foot of the table.

Burgess Hill enjoyed an emphatic win at home to Uckfield Anderida to go second.

The visitors were shot out for 100 as Ian Simpson took 3-18 and Hugh Warmisham 6-45 including a hat-trick.

Hill were themselves in trouble at 26-4 before Jack Simpson eased them to victory with 50 not out from 33 balls.

Seaford and Hellingly played out a high scoring draw at The Salts with the visitors falling just short in a match producing well over 500 runs.

Seaford declared on 264-7 from 47 overs as youngsters Mark Sapwell and Olly Smith led the way with 124 and 58 respectively.

Sol March led the response with 61 as Hellingly finished 260-7. Chris Stanyard claimed 3-55 for Seaford.

Ansty moved off the bottom of the table after overhauling a huge Crawley total of 266-5 at Southgate Park.

Crawley declared after 48.3 overs after giving themselves a sound base with an opening partnership of 109. Harry Chaudhary hit 84 and Sohail Shah 69 not out but Ansty were to use the extra overs to great effect.

Leo Anderson made 81 and Jonathan Young 59 with Ansty winning by 4 wickets.

In the West, Findon claimed a comfortable victory at Pagham overhauling their host’s total of 198-9 to win by 6 wickets leaving winless Pagham 28 points adrift at the bottom of the table.

Findon are now 37 points clear from second place at the top.

Bognor Regis remain second despite a 35 run reverse at home to Slinfold.

Guy Thorne took 6-36 for Slinfold as their total of 165 proved to be adequate. Slinfold move up four places to third.

Middleton go above Steyning and into fourth position after the game between the two sides finished in stalemate.

Middleton declared on 261-5 with Ben Hansford making an unbeaten 103 and Seb Gallagher 83.

Steyning replied with 234-6 as Hywel Jones made 70, Ed Lamb 60 not out.

Henfield rose three places to sixth after winning at Littlehampton.

Littlehampton were bowled out for 168 in just 38 overs. Jim Askew made 39, Matt Parnell 35 and Sajid Khan 32 as the wickets were mainly shared between Damon Earp 4-85, Tony Brugnoli 2-4 and Tim Parsons 2-19.

Henfield did not find it easy and just got home by 2 wickets with Craig Scott’s 51 not out proving decisive. Dan Rive took 3-69 and Chris Heberlein 2-18 for Littlehampton.
