After victories over both Lancashire and Nottinghamshire, Sussex are finishing the season strongly and have moved into fourth position in the Division 1 table.

A win over already-relegated Northamptonshire tomorrow (10.30am) could hand them second place in the standings behind champions Yorkshire, depending on Warwickshire’s result against Durham.

Skipper Ed Joyce is currently 77 runs behind Yorkshire’s Adam Lyth in the race to finish top run-scorer in the Championship, whilst Steve Magoffin tops the wicket-takers’ list with 67 scalps this season, three ahead of Jack Brooks.

Chris Jordan is unavailable for the final fixture of the season at the request of England so left-arm seamer Chris Liddle comes into the squad of 13 for the match, with Sussex still missing injured quartet James Anyon, Rory Hamilton-Brown, Matthew Hobden and Matt Prior.

The Sussex squad is as follows: WAT Beer, BC Brown (wkt), C Cachopa, LJ Hatchett, EC Joyce (capt), J Lewis, CJ Liddle, SJ Magoffin, CD Nash, LWP Wells, LJ Wright, MH Yardy, SAA Zaidi.
