Josh Fleming said: “Our Man of the Match was our new overseas player who got a good 30 on a hard track and got their three big guns out (Mark Tomsett, Toby Finzell and Callum Jackson) who are probably the best three batsmen in the league.

“We put the strangle on them and they couldn’t get singles and they had to go for the big shot. We held our chances and once they got up to needing eight an over it was difficult for them.

“All five bowlers were outstanding. The ball and the run-ups were wet and everyone worked hard in the field. the groundsmen and umpires did really well to get the game on so credit to them. I guess there would be matches today where there was no cricket at all.

“Our overseas player looks like a good addition. He’s a fit lad and will be able to bowl a lot of overs every week. He’s accurate and he does a bit with the ball so hopefully he’ll cause problems.”
