After openers Tom Penfold and Jack Simpson reached 13 with few alarms, the impressive Sam Adams trapped Penfold LBW and the procession began.

The key run scorers from the previous week, Jack Simpson and Karl Boffey, both fell to Sam Palser playing at deliveries outside off stump.

Adams continued to cause havoc from the top end and Richard Smith got in on the act by taking 2-10.

The only meaningful resistance came from Phil Wickwar who showed fight and application that was sadly lacking from most others. He top-scored with 13 and faced most deliveries. No other batsman scored double figures.

Adams had last man Peter Billinghay caught at slip to return excellent figures of 6-26 off 15 overs.

In reply Ansty seemed intent on winning in a hurry and stuttered to a five-wicket victory after playing some wild shots against good bowling, particularly from Dan Yates. He took two wickets, as did Simpson.

With hindsight it looked a good toss to lose and the wicket may not have been as true as usual but it certainly was not the minefield suggested by 15 wickets falling for 116 runs.

Hill need to forget this one quickly and show some resilience for the remaining games of the season.
