Young guns claim cup scalp

Hastings Priory pulled off a splendid ECB National Club Championship victory away to Bexley on Sunday.

After losing the toss and being asked to field on a hot afternoon, a youthful Priory side skittled Kent Premier League outfit Bexley for 96 with Harry Finch and Josh Poysden taking four wickets each.

Although Priory lost both openers for single figure scores in reply, Finch (40 not out) and Adam Maharaj-Newman (29 not out) guided them past their target with eight wickets and plenty of overs in hand.

Also on Sunday, Bexhill narrowly missed out on a vital Sussex Premier League victory after dominating their match against the Sussex Development XI at The Polegrove.

Bexhill amassed 300-3 batting first and their opponents hung on for a draw at 140-9 in reply after surviving the final 10 overs. Full reports on both matches will appear in Friday’s Observers.
