CROQUET
THE Association Croquet Inter County Championship was held at Sussex County in Southwick, and Compton in Eastbourne recently.
The tournament attracted around 150 of the best players in England representing 22 different counties.
Local interest was in the strong Sussex team which played in the second division. Two top teams in the second division, Sussex and Lancashire, met in the final.
Both had seven wins and it was a straight fight for the title with Sussex finally gaining victory with a 2-1 win. This gave them promotion into the Premier division for next season.
