NUTLEY must hope that champions Selmeston beat Burwash Weald tomorrow (Saturday) to maintain their place in the top flight.

Nutley gave themselves a fighting chance on Saturday as Alan Poulter and Grant Olive took three wickets each in Alfriston s innings of 107 all out. Olive then made 35 in a six-wicket victory.

East Dean beat Blackboys to claim joint second spot alongside the team they beat on Saturday. Mike Bush top scored for East Dean with 40 in an innings of 164-8 before Bruce Elkington s 4-25 helped skittle Blackboys for 125.

Colin Albright top scored with 46 and Gary Funnell 35.

Firle finished in fourth place thanks to an innings of 232-6 against relegated Preston Village who were reduced to 159-8 in reply. Richard Gravett hit a undefeated 94 and James Gravett 46 for Firle.

Sanjay Patel s four wickets saw Bells Yew Green skittle Withyham for 73 in reply to 153-7.

Tim Robertson hit 55 and Paul Smith 43 not out as Mayfield II swept to a seven-wicket win over Ridgewood, who had earlier scored 163 all out, in Division Two.

In other games Firle II lost to Malling and Mayfield beat Laughton by three wickets.
