Dan is top Jogger at Hastings run

Horsham Joggers competed in two events on Sunday May 12 - the Hastings five-mile Road Race and the Portslade Hedgehoppers five-mile Fun Run.

There were twice as many Joggers competing in the fast, flat Hastings race as last year, with 18-year-old rising star Dan Pettit achieving an impressive 37th place in 32 mins 11 secs, closely followed by Catherine Corke in 33.18, the fifth fastest female.

Only seconds behind were John Dyckes (33.29) and Mark Smee (33.33). Raffaele Vitale and Keith Valentine crossed the line together in 34.36, followed by Alan Pettit in 35.23, Jeff Colenso (35.59), Alison Gormley (36.43) and Edward Smith (38.07).

Two ladies who only started running on a Horsham Joggers ‘Learn To Run’ course last October were next home: Carol-Anne Davies-Jones (39.57) and Anna Titchmarsh (40.04) - a very impressive debut at this distance. Then Nigel Edney and Fiona Clifton finished in 42.12 and 45.58 respectively.

Four Horsham Joggers competed in the Portslade race, an off-road event on an undulating course over part of the South Downs. First Jogger home was Diane Berry in 53.15, followed by Caroline Bransden (55.03), Edna Clark (60.07) and Jenny Boyd (64.35).
