The 38-year-old won the opener with a run of 85, and although he lost the second, Davis clinched the third and a tight fourth to lead 3-1 at the interval.

Fu, who drew 3-3 with 2nd-ranked Ronnie O'Sullivan in the Premier League last Thursday, reeled off the next three aided by breaks of 63 and 101, but it was Davis who prevailed.

Davis will face 5th-ranked Stephen Maguire in the last 16 on Thursday morning.
