Horsham Ladies claimed their biggest league win of the season so far in winning 4-0 away at Ipswich on Saturday.

Steph Dent bagged a hat-trick and Jess Dean was also on target - all four coming from well-worked short corners, and forward Dent is happy things now seem to be clicking.

“Things finally seem to be coming together,” she said. “We changed quite a few things around, a new coach and new formation and players in different positions. We’ve been playing well without maybe getting the luck we’ve deserved but there’s a lot more confidence and self belief in the team.”

Horsham enjoyed a dominant opening 15 minutes with Australian oversees player Courtney Pickford particularly impressing on the right.

A single Dent goal was all they had to show for their superiority at half time, but after the break she finished off two further short corner routines. And Dean capped an impressive win when she lashed in a fourth.

Dent added: “We have struggled a bit in recent years finishing in the bottom half of the table but we’ve always had the fight to prove we deserve to be in this league. We’re up against big sides who have invested heavily and we’re a local club who’ve always relied on local players and built from the bottom.”

And she added: “We’ve got a massive game this weekend against Chelmsford, it’s our last game before the winter break and if we can get a win and results go our way it could put us mid-table.”
