Denyer misses final by 0.4

A NEW personal-best time was not enough to haul Kelly Denyer through a difficult semi-final in the National Indoors Under-20 Women's 400 metres.

The Worthing Harrier pulled out 57.6sec on the heels of national senior champion Meghan Beesley and Norwegian champion Benedicte Hauge. But in this semi-final, only two were guaranteed a place in the final at Denyer missed it by four tenths of a second.

Denyer, the Southern Indoor champion this year and last, said: "I was disappointed in not making the final, but the PB was a crumb of comfort and shows I'm still getting better. I felt stronger this time even though I did not make the final, as I did last year."
