Dragonflyers bounce into 2015 in style

It was an incredible opening to 2015 for Dragonflyers as they started their competition season with 17 medals.

They took five gold, six silver and six bronze medals as Farnborough held two competitions on the same day.

The national development levels one to six and grades G to D classes saw 16 flyers among the talented trampolinists aged seven and up taking Six of the ten Flyers participating at the morning’s NDP event were level six. Libby Morton opened the medal table with two stunning ten-bounce routines. Her voluntary routine consisted of nine various somersaults was executed with grace and precision to gain bronze in the 11-12yrs NDP6 category, with team-mate Izzy Hauxwell hot on her heels in fourth place.

Anya Johnstone wowed judges and spectators, easily winning NDP6 13-14 years. Ellie Morton finished in silver position.

Taylor Cleall, who is 14, finished an amazing sixth in the 15-plus NDPp6 while Lee Burgess pulled out a series of doubles with twists to gain fifth position.

Natalie Pullen took sixth in NDP5 15 years-plus while Sofija Kalnicenko, Jenna Partridge and Alice Chapman all medalled at NDP3. Sofija took silver at 11-12yrs, Jenna gold and Alice silver in the 13 years-plus group.

All flyers finished in the top six, with seven performers eligible for regional selection. Johnston’s incredible form scores and excessive tariff gained her the right to jump with the best trampolinists in GB at the spring series. The first event will be in Coventry in April.

The afternoon hosted the graded event in which six Flyers battled nerves to make parents and coaches proud at their first competition. Lani Smith took silver at under-nine G, Luke Hauxwell and Rosie Budge bronze at u11 G, Emily Rimmer seventh at u13 G, Jess Murray and Lanark Collier bronze and 11th u15 G, Jenna Partridge fifth at over-15 G.

Sofija, who is ten, gained fifth at under-13 F while Johnstone pulled out the highest score of the day, 9.1, to win under-15 F. Team-mate Beth Moore finished eighth in this group, Taylor Cleall easily took gold in over-15 F with her fantastic accurate routines.

Izzy Hauxwell took silver in under-13 E with Libby in fifth place. Also gaining medals at E were Alice Chapman (bronze u15) and Natalie Pullen (o15 gold).

Lee Burgess and Ellie Morton added medals to their collections with silver and bronze at D grade. In all, 11 medals were taken – three gold, three silver and five bronze.

Partridge and Budge move up to F in March while Hauxwell, Cleall and Johnstone’s incredible scores allow them to move to D level .
