EP duo get maiden league half-centuries

EAST PRESTON Cricket Club's Josh Carter and Jack Sunderland both got their first league half-centuries in EP 2nd XI's five-wicket win at Ansty on Saturday.

EP, in Invitation League Division 3, were chasing 248 to win. Carter, 17, scored 66 and Sunderland, 14, struck 60 as the pair put on 109 for the third wicket.

Earlier, Tom Chamberlain and Tony Charrin had both taken two Ansty wickets.

In a friendly on Sunday, EP defeated Pathfinder by six wickets. Dan Williams took 4-42 and Dan Sunderland 3-28 as Pathfinder were bowled out for 229.

Andy Reeves then hit an unbeaten 81 and Williams struck 69 as EP won with two overs left.

EP's Under-15s are through to the Sussex semi-finals of the Portman Twenty20 Cup, where they will meet either Horsham or Roffey.

East Preston defeated Preston Nomads by 10 wickets in their last-eight match. Nomads were restricted to 77-7 from their 20 overs, with Ashley Bryant taking 2-12, before Darryl Rebbetts hit 41 not out and Jack Sunderland an unbeaten 31 to guide EP home.

In the Sussex League West Division Under-16 League, EP suffered an 80-run loss at home to Findon.

Findon scored 182-7 from their 25 overs, with EP's left-arm under-13 seamer, Matt Laker, taking 4-22.

But, EP were bowled out for 102 in their reply with Lucy Uncles top-scoring on 24.
