The Lower Sixth pupil, who is now 33rd in the British Fencing’s women’s épée senior ranking, recently captained the South East Squad at Cadet Winton, the annual inter-regional team event held at Millfield School, Somerset in December, to great success.

Eleanor did very well last summer in the women’s competitions.

She came third at the Bexley Open and second in a Leon Paul open in London, beaten only by an Italian woman. Her best result of the year was ninth place in a top women’s international in London.

She was beaten only by the top five women in the country and three Italian internationals.

Sara Whittaker, Farlington’s Director of PE and Games, said: “Eleanor started fencing at Farlington in Year 7 and now coaches the Farlington team with Matthew Brigden, our fencing instructor. She is a great ambassador for the school and the sport, and she demonstrates what you can achieve when you find your passion. We wish her the best of luck for the competition in Bratislava.”
