First win for Town

BEXHILL Town found their first win of the Sussex League Division Three season at Ifield on Saturday (September 29). The match started badly for Town as they went a goal in the first ten minutes from a speculative 25-yard lob.

Caretaker manager Mark Simpson took command of the midfield and fed the ball to Rob Warner who equalised from 20 yards out.

The green machine started brightly in the second half and found the winner through Richard Anderson s persistence. His cross from the left was met by the Ifield left back who placed the ball into his own net with a header any striker would have been proud of.

Sidley United continued their First Division title defence with another victory to keep the pressure on the leading pack.

A late goal from player-manager Peter Heritage gave them a 2-1 win over battling Wick.

The veteran striker came off the bench and scored his first goal of the season with just two minutes left.

An early Peter Baker penalty gave Sidley the lead but Wick equalised soon after through Gareth Green.

Heritage s strike was enough to send Wick home with nothing.
