Fontwell Park supports national campaign

Racecourse are being encouraged to play a vital part in alleviating the suffering of millions of working horses in the developing world at the Festive Food and Drink Fair Race Day on Sunday. The racecourse will be supporting the Brooke '“ the UK's largest overseas equine welfare charity.

Fontwell Park is the final racecourse in Sussex to take part in the Brooke's Courses for Horses campaign '“ a national fundraising initiative. Sussex racecourses, including Plumpton, Brighton and Lingfield Park, have already raised more than 3,500 this year as part of this campaign, and it is hoped that Fontwell Park will boost that figure.

The Brooke hopes to raise tens of thousands of pounds after inviting all of the UK's 59 racecourses to sign up to its Courses for Horses Racecourse Club. Furthermore Betfair '“ the UK's leading online sports betting exchange '“ has generously pledged to match every pound generated by each of the racecourses as the Brooke's headline Courses for Horses sponsor.

"Fontwell Park Racecourse is delighted to support the Brooke charity in their bid to raise money for such a worthwhile cause," said Beccy Green, Senior Commercial Executive at Fontwell Park Racecourse. "As the final racecourse in Sussex to be taking part in this campaign, we really hope to boost the money raised so far. And every pound we raise on Sunday will of course be match-funded by Betfair."
