The charity day on Sunday, May 29, will raise money for West Sussex’s Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice and will be a celebration of horse racing and football with plenty of free family activities.
These include football on an inflatable pitch, a penalty shoot-out, speed shoot, target shoot, FA skills coaching team, a jockeys’ autograph session, fun fair rides and face painting.
Children aged 15 and under are admitted free of charge.
The partnership will also see Sussex footballers and their families receive discounts on admission to all race meetings at Fontwell Park.
Any member of one of the 819 football clubs in Sussex will receive £5 off the normal admission price when booking in advance. The offer will be available online only. The Sussex FA will circulate a special booking code.
County FA chief executive Ken Benham said: “This is a great partnership for Sussex sport. There have always been plenty of close links between horse racing and football and we are looking forward to developing that relationship on a local level.
“The race day will raise money for a very worthy cause and the admission deal will offer our clubs a handsome discount on a race day.”
Phil Bell, general manager at Fontwell Park, said: “We’re delighted to be building a partnership with the county FA.
“We’re working hard in horse racing to promote our sport to a wider audience and this is exactly what our relationship with the county’s football clubs will achieve.”
They race at Fontwell this Friday - a seven-race card begins at 2.10pm. Ticket details are on 01243 543335.
