FOOTBALL: County League news

THE weather again played havoc with the County League programme on Saturday and Tuesday, with several games off owing to frozen pitches.

With the forecast not looking too good for this weekend's fixtures either, it could be another free Saturday for all our teams.

New East Preston manager Paul Curtis has been busy and has signed striker Phil Churchill, from Rustington, and left-winger Louie Murray, from Littlehampton.

Curtis is also hoping to dual-sign former Bristol Rovers midfielder James Fraser from Eastbourne Borough.

EP's Jamie Fay and Danny Azimi are both now back to full fitness.

Chairman Carl Stabler will remain as Wick's manager for the rest of the season. He has appointed John Sharman and John Price as coaches.

Wick have re-signed Ben Buckland from Hamble but midfielder Dan Swain has left to join West Sussex League Angmering.

Clymping have put a seven-day approach in for Littlehampton defender Matt Ward.

Worthing United should be at full-strength for their game at Steyning Town on Saturday with Gareth Green returning from injury.

Mile Oak are hoping to sign former Lewes midfielder Ollie Rowland, who is looking to return to full fitness after a knee ligament injury last season.

Midfielder Chris Pulling is out through suspension but keeper Aaron Stenning is back available.

Oak Reserves drew 1-1 at home to Hastings on Saturday in County League Reserves Premier Division. Liam Austin-Slade had an effort disallowed for offside in the first half before man of the match Joe Whiting gave Oak the lead in the second period.

Hastings equalised on the break before Oak's Tony Burnett and Wayne Whittington both went close to a late winner.

Rustington have signed midfielder or defender Jason Wimbleton from Arundel and he will be in the squad for Saturday's match at Lancing.

Winger Lee Gibbs is Blues' only doubt with an ankle injury.

Lancing are without Rob Partridge (one-game ban) and Ryan Loverside (first of three game suspension) on Saturday.

Storrington club captain Dean Potter is back available for his side's match at Midhurst on Saturday. He has been out since the third game of the season with an Achilles injury. Stuart McCall is also available after work commitments.
