FOOTBALL: County League round-up (January 17)

ARUNDEL Football Club progressed into the John O'Hara Cup semi-finals with a 3-2 win at Peacehaven on Saturday (January 17).

Mullets won with two goals from Gary Norgate and one from Mike Huckett and will now meet Whitehawk in the last four.

In County League Division 1, East Preston moved out of the bottom three with a 2-1 victory at Hassocks. Jay Huet and Charlie Oatway, with a last-minute winner, hit EP's goals.

Wick dropped to third after a 2-0 defeat at home to Whitehawk, while Shoreham moved up to 10th after Dan Jordan got the only goal in their 1-0 success at Redhill.

Bottom-club Worthing United's match at Lingfield was postponed owing to a waterlogged pitch.

In Division 2, Danny Curd blasted home six goals as Mile Oak won 7-0 at bottom-club Sidlesham to move to the top of the table. He hit a hat-trick in each half, with Chris Paine netting Oak's other goal.

A last-minute goal from Steve Kirkham, his second of the match, rescued a point for Rustington against Rye in their 2-2 draw. Rye had led 2-0 after just 12 minutes.

Adam Steele gave Southwick a 50th-minute lead at Loxwood, but they went down 2-1.

Steyning Town moved into the top 10 with a 2-1 success over Midhurst. Chris Duffett and Lee Waterhouse struck for Town.

Craig Grantham scored on his return to Storrington from Loxwood but it was only a consolation as Swans lost 2-1 at home to Bexhill.

Nikki Loversidge gave Lancing an early lead at Wealden, but Wealden hit back to win 3-1.

Clymping remain top of Division 3 despite a 5-1 defeat at home to unbeaten Newhaven, who are now just two points behind Clymping with two games in hand. Richy Moss had given Clymping the lead.

On Friday, Littlehampton lost 5-3 at Ringmer in the first round of the Brighton Charity Cup. George Gaskin, on his return to Golds from East Preston, scored twice and Joe Charman hit Littlehampton's other goal.
