FOOTBALL: County League round-up (January 31)

DANNY CURD blasted home a hat-trick for Mile Oak Football Club on Saturday (January 31) to keep them top of County League Division 2.

The treble moved Curd onto 31 goals for the season, and they are still two points ahead of second-placed Peacehaven, who won 2-0 at Storrington.

Third-placed Rustington won 2-1 at Westfield with goals from Steve Kirkham and Simon Clayton.

Steyning Town moved into the top 10 with a 3-2 win at Southwick. Ben Shelford, with two, and Paul Schofield gave Town a 3-0 lead, but Wickers closed the gap with goals from Dominic Shepherd and James Wotherspoon.

Jerry Manning struck twice for Littlehampton, who draw 2-2 with Midhurst, while Ryan Loversidge scored for Lancing in their 2-1 home defeat against Sidley.

In Division 1, Wick and Arundel's title hopes both suffered a setback. Third-placed Wick went down 2-0 at Ringmer, and Gary Norgate netted for Mullets in their 4-1 loss at Lingfield.

East Preston's recent revival came to an end with a 2-1 defeat against Three Bridges. Lee Farrell struck for EP.

Bottom-of-the-table Worthing United lost 2-1 at Horsham YMCA, who got their winner with three minutes left.

Shoreham's match at Oakwood was postponed.

Clymping remain top of Division 3 after a 2-2 draw at Rottingdean Village. Tom Bunting and Simon Corona were on target for Clymping.
