FOOTBALL: Danny Cullip's weekly column (April 15)

THERE'S never a dull moment at the Albion, on or off the pitch.

In last week's defeat at Hartlepool, they fielded an ineligible player and I'm not sure how something like that happens '“ but it shouldn't.

We had Glenn Murray missing for the same reason so I don't know what's going to happen, but it would be nice if we were to be awarded the points.

In the Sussex Senior Cup earlier this season, Hastings played an ineligible player when they beat Lewes and the game had to be replayed.

I don't know if that will happen and I'm not sure how the supporters would feel about going all the way to Hartlepool again.

It was a good point at Gillingham on Tuesday.

I'm sure we had plenty of fans there and they'll be out in force again at Southend on Saturday. Both Gillingham and Southend still need points, as do we, so there's a lot to play for.

I know Crofty was looking forward to the Gillingham game.

He was the captain when I played there and I was very surprised Gillingham loaned him out to Wrexham last season.

He was the best central midfielder by a mile when I was there and he's showed he's one of the best midfielders here as well.

In a couple of seasons, we'll be able to go to Gillingham from Falmer, too, which everyone is looking forward to.

I've been around the stadium and it's fantastic. We're going to be based there and it's just going to be unbelievable '“ a real top-spec stadium.

Bobby Zamora is in outstanding form for Fulham and it shows what confidence can do.

He's on fire at the moment, as are Fulham, and what a goal Bobby got at Wolfsburg. He did a Cruyff turn and then stroked the ball past the keeper.

He's playing with confidence and is doing fantastically well. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy either. He's really down to earth and is always providing Albion in the Community with signed shirts and other stuff.

I'd love to see him at the World Cup. Personally, I'd take him. He's a striker in a rich vein of form and I'd rather take someone like that than someone who is not in form.

I'm sure that the England manager and a lot of other people are watching him at the moment, especially as he's banging them in in Europe against defenders who will be at the World Cup.

It could also be a blessing in disguise that Liverpool and Fulham are the only English teams left in Europe.

I'm sure if you ask the teams who were in the Champions League they wouldn't think so but it means there won't be so much fatigue, which can only help.
