Football league celebrates memorable season

The turn-out, comparable to previous stagings at Bexhill's presently unoccupied De La Warr Pavilion, speaks volumes for the high levels of organisation on the part of the league's committee and enthusiasm of the youngsters involved.

And that enthusiasm was rewarded with some gleaming trophies which were presented by Observer Sport reporter Simon Newstead.

All players at the non-competitive under-7 and under-8 level picked up gongs while the runners-up and winners of the older age groups were recognised. There was also a sportsmanship prize on offer for each of the 18 divisions across 11 age groups. The overall sportsmanship award for the entire league '“ the Pat Bligh award '“ went to Glenco.
