Football League future for Legge

HAILSHAM Town boss Brian Dennis believes that teenage sensation Leon Legge can go all the way.

The 17-year old, who signed from Eastbourne United earlier this year, has attracted rave reviews with his swashbuckling displays alongside the outstanding Martin Richardson at the heart of the Stringers' defence.

'He's my best signing, without a doubt,' said Brian.

'I can't for the life of me understand why he and Martin are not in the Sussex County League representative team '“ they're the best central defensive pairing in the league.

'I've never seen anyone as good as Leon at 17.

'I think he's got a big, big future, and by that I mean he could go all the way to the Football League.

'He's a brilliant tackler, he's got phenomenal pace, heads the ball superbly, he uses both feet, he's a good passer of the ball and he's got an outstanding football brain.

'When we signed him I said we'd develop him and push him on to a higher level when he's ready '“ I think he's ready now. It would obviously be nice to keep him here a while but we'll do what's best for him.

'He's settled in so well here. The players love him, the supporters love him and that's because he puts his heart and soul into it and he's a genuine guy. I've got nothing but admiration for him.'
