FOOTBALL: Play-off heartbreak again for Rebels

WORTHING Football Club fell at the Ryman League Division 1 South play-off hurdle for the third successive season on Tuesday (April 27) when they lost 2-1 to Godalming.

Godalming got the winner from the penalty spot in extra-time, on 105 minutes, through Glenn Stanley, after Glen Woodburn had tripped Phil Williams.

Godalming had taken the lead on 21 minutes when Woodburn's attempted header back to keeper Alan Mansfield fell short and Graeme Purdy nipped in to poke the ball home.

Rebels equalised on 73 minutes with a brilliant 20-yard strike from Chamal Fenelon before Stanley's spot-kick ended Worthing's dreams for another season.
