Bognor Regis Town Colts 13 Worthing United 1

Bognor faced Worthing with only 11 men as illness meant they had no substitutes – but that didn’t stop them recording an emphatic win.

Ben Mendosa soon opened the scoring for Bognor and they continued to dominate. Goals came thick and fast with Craig Newson (2), Sam Neal and Lloyd Rowlatt all finding the net.

Worthing had a goal disallowed close to the half-time whistle, which arrived with Bognor 5-0 up.

Bognor went out for the second half hungry for more goals and again were in command most of the time. Within minutes, Calum Champ opened the second-half account, followed by another goal from Mendosa.

Worthing were awarded a penalty after George Lawrence was deemed to have fouled an opponent and even the dancing antics of Bognor keeper Ollie Suter could not stop Worthing putting the ball past him.

Rowlatt went on to score two more, giving him his hat-trick.

Bognor were awarded a penalty and sweeper/reserve keeper Josh Irish made it clear he wanted to get his name on the scoresheet – partly because he had been promised a cash reward from his dad if he scored his first of the season. Irish’s shot was saved but from the corner, Irish had more luck and scored that previously-elusive goal.

Newson completed his hat-trick before the best goal of the game came from Liam Davies, who found the back of the net from the edge of the area. Davies was ecstatic as he has never scored for Bognor.

Bognor top the table and have two games in hand.

Highdown Saints C 1 Midhurst & Easebourne 10

Midhurst travelled to Littlehampton with just 11 players and Liam Field-Millard set them off and running with his first goal in five minutes.

Five minutes later, Jordan Warren made it 2-0. After his double hat-trick the previous week, Jake Burtoo didn’t fail to disappoint and within the next ten minutes scored another hat-trick.

Aidan Largan pulled off a fantastic save off the line for the visitors to end the first half 5-0 up. Two minutes into the second half, Warren scored his second. Midhurst’s midfield of star man Oomen, Murphy, Field-Millard, Warren and Cain continued to work hard and a great pass by Cain put Burtoo in for his fourth.

Warren completed his hat-trick and Field-Millard scored his second.

Highdown managed one goal – a high shot just out of Largan’s reach. Burtoo scored his fifth late on.

Highdown Saints A 3 Summerley Park Rangers 0

Summerley lost to Highdown Saints A in the Challenge cup semi-final.

This was always going to be tough, with Highdown leading A division.

Summerley were hit by injuries and struggled to field 11 fit players.

Highdown created the clearer-cut chances and man-of-the-match Sargeant made some superb saves in the Summerley goal, while Worlsley had another superb game in defence.

The loss of Hayes for the second half gave Highdown the edge in the middle of the pitch with Summerley being forced to defend deep. Summerley had the odd counter-attack which was well defended by Highdown.

With ten minutes to go, the pressure finally told and Highdown went one up. As Summerley pushed forward for the equaliser, Highdown knocked in another couple of goals. An excellent, strong, competitive game of football was won by the best team on the day, but Summerley can be proud of their run in the cup.

Predators Tigers 1 Bosham 1

A pre-match downpour made for slippery conditions but Predators made the best of them as a well-timed run and a defensive mistake from Bosham let them in for the opener.

Bosham piled on the pressure but to no avail. They brought on Sabini to strengthen the midfield.

Some great midfield play from Hesketh, Mitchell and Tyrell wore down Predators. A free-kick from Tyrell hit the bar and a goal was disallowed for offside, but a handball in the area gave Bosham their chance.

Harding took the penalty and after a great save he followed up to net the rebound.

Bosham poured forward and Hesketh had a goal ruled out for offside. Man of the match was Matt Mitchell.

UNDER-16

Bosham 13 Worthing Town Youth 0

Bosham secured another high-scoring victory against ten-man Worthing.

Worthing put up a brave battle for 25 minutes before Tim Callen’s shot was judged to have crossed the line to break the deadlock.

Worthing’s heads dropped and they conceded another six before half-time. Bosham goals came from Callen with three, including a penalty to secure his hat-trick, Billy Francis (2), Phil Merrick and Jack Antony.

The second half saw Worthing battling to prevent further goals but Bosham, with the extra man, soon took the upper hand again and scored another six through Antony, Harry Reynolds, Luke Ayling, Louis Buntin, Phil Merrick and Francis, completing his treble.

Bosham are second in their division. Man of the match was Adil Rahman.

UNDER-13

Chichester City Colts A 2 Worthing United Youth 1

The Colts progressed to the Invitation Cup final with a hard-fought win over Worthing which stretched their unbeaten run to 12 games.

In a goalless first half, the Colts were the more creative side, forcing numerous corners, but they couldn’t quite find that killer pass.

The defence stayed solid throughout and Humphreys had little to do.

In a more open second half, Chichester took the lead when George Cody crossed for Thomas Smith to slot home.

Worthing began to cause problems for the Colts defence and were rewarded with an equaliser when a good save from Humphreys fell to a Worthing forward to equalise.

The visitors had one more chance before an exquisite pass from Jack Graham was slotted home by Bailey Ruddick.

Cody could have made it 3-1 but his shot was tipped over.

UNDER-TEN

Felpham Colts Yth 1 Whyke Utd A 1

Felpham secured a well-earned point against B division leaders Whyke in a thrilling match at Kingsham School.

In an end-to-end first half, Felpham took the lead when Ben Grieshaber found the net from short range.

Felpham created a series of chances with the pace of Harry Wollers, Tom Woolcott and Sam Ellison causing Whyke problems.

Felpham knew Whyke would throw everything at them and that was what happened. They created a series of good opportunities but failed to convert them, with Luke Yates and Jordan Cane having magnificent matches at the heart of the defence.

Whyke hit the bar and the post and when Ben Peach made a series of incredible saves, it looked like Whyke might not find a way through. But six minutes from time, Whyke found an equaliser with an unstoppable long-range effort.

Felpham showed they can compete with the best teams in the division as equals.

The man-of-the-match title was shared by all nine players.

Midhurst and Easebourne 2 Worthing Town Youth B 2

Worthing dominated the first ten minutes and went 1-0 up and had other chances.

Midhurst hit back when Conner Jefferies scored from a free-kick from the edge of the area.

Shortly afterwards Jake Lambert went on a run and made it 2-1.

Midhurst played well after that but the pressure from Worthing began to mount and they equalised with a couple of minutes left.
