The U’s will take on a Town side managed by former United boss John Lambert and containing several ex-Hastings players. Kick-off at The Saffrons is 7.45pm, and admission is £5 for adults and £3 concessions.

The likes of Matt Darby, Danny Ellis, Andy Henson, Sean Kelly, Greg Nessling and Kenny Pogue have all joined Town this summer having been part of United’s squad last season.

United were comfortable 3-0 winners at The Pilot Field but surrendered a half time lead to lose 3-2 at The Saffrons against Town in Ryman Football League Division South last season.

Both clubs have assembled strong-looking squads ahead of the new campaign and will be aiming to challenge for their respective titles, with Town having been relegated to the Sussex County Football League.

United have another warm-up game away to Ringmer on Thursday night, but their scheduled friendly at home to a Gillingham XI on Saturday has been cancelled because the Gills are unable to raise a side.

The U’s are now seeking alternative opposition to avoid going into their opening league game away to Walton Casuals on Saturday August 9 without having played for 11 days.
