Albion’s weekend odds: Birmingham

IT HAS has hardly been the start to the season that Brighton supporters were looking for with their side one of six without a point after the first couple of fixtures of the Championship season.

Brighton are out to 33/1 for the title, 13/2 for promotion and 3/1 for a top-six finish at BetVictor after the 2-1 loss to Derby County at the Amex last weekend.

Watford have replaced QPR as favourites for the title at 4/1 but that looks an overreaction to their 6-1 success at home to Bournemouth with Rangers picking up a useful point at the John Smith’s Stadium Huddersfield.

One worrying statistic is that Brighton have taken the lead in all three competitive games they have played to date and that must be a real concern for Oscar Garcia who is into 8/1 to be the first Championship manager to lose/leave his post having been 33/1 at BetVictor when we first started betting on the market last month.

The Seagulls travel to St Andrews this weekend and a meeting with a Birmingham side who lost their opener to Watford on the opening day before beating relegation favourites Yeovil last weekend at Huish Park.

BetVictor make Brighton our 8/5 favourites at BetVictor with Blues 2/1 and the draw at 23/10 and a share of the spoils is the minimum I would expect for the Seagulls against an ordinary Blues side.

Jose Ulloa is now 4/9 to be the club’s top goalscorer in the division and 10/1 to be the Championship’s top scorer after his goals at Elland Road and against the Rams.

Watford’s Troy Deeney is 6/1 favourite after his Vicarage Road hat-trick with Jordan Rhodes also 10s and Charlie Austin 12s.

Ulloa is 5/1 to score the opening goal in Birmingham and 17/10 to find the back of the net at any time; manager Garcia will want goals from all positions but the form his star striker is in at present makes the 17/10 for the Argentinian to score in the 90 minutes look a fair price.

The Seagulls are 4/5 in our draw no bet market and that might be the safe option; let’s hope the season starts for Brighton and Oscar Garcia on Saturday and with this bet you will get your money refunded if the game finishes in a draw.
